a system for recording and ranking the performance of a supplier in terms of a variety of issues, which may include delivery performance and the quality of the items. A process of vendor rating is essential to effective purchasing. When conducted before an order is placed, it is known as supplier evaluation. When undertaken after the fulfillment of an order, it is called supplier rating, or supplier appraisal.
